The Aldeburgh Carnival is a celebration with a long tradition that lasts 3 days and takes place every year. It is recognized for having carnival themes directed towards the development of the family. In fact, it has been awarded the Norfolk & Suffolk Family Tourism Event winner of the year 2018.
This carnival has different activities comprised in different ways. The last day of the carnival comprises the most common carnival activities, including a main parade and a Chinese lantern parade, closing the event with fireworks. Aldeburgh is fortunate to be one of the towns to keep a tradition alive over the years, especially such an event that focuses on family and communal activities..
The earliest known record of the first carnivals dates from August 29, 1892, when 15 events were held, 12 sailing races, 2swimming races and a grease pole competition. Also included in the events were a boat race on the city’s waterfront, Thorpenness and Dunwich. Another feature that has been retained is the fireworks function.
In 1927, one of the traditions called Ye Old Marine Regatta began, which has remained today. Today, the carnival has been maintained and still basins with family and sports related activities. In addition, much of the logistics and activities are carried out by volunteer groups.

The Aldeburgh Carnival is held in the town of Aldeburgh, in Suffolk, England, United Kingdom. The carnival is held over three days, each taking place in different parts of the town. The parade is held from Moot Hall to High Street.

The Aldeburgh carnivals are held and run a little differently from the rest of the world’s carnivals, as their events are divided by days. The first day of carnival is known as “The Day of Music” this is where visitors can enjoy different live music shows, music bands and artists. It is one of the days where people congregate to spend a quiet day before all the action takes place the following days.
The second day is “Sports Day” is when locals and visitors perform different presentations made withphysical activity and there are activities for children and for adults that require a little more physical exertion. During this day you can seeegg races for children; boat races; Punch and Judy, (puppet performance); the silent auction for charity; a game called: “is it water or is it wine? ” and finally a 10K race.
Celebrating English tradition, Aldeburgh Carnival offers not only its original carnival procession, but also Punch and Judy shows, fireworks, a 10k race, a variety of games and races and an impressive selection of local food and beverages.
The last day is “Carnival Monday” when a rescue demonstration, music and baile samba, pop and choir performances and the military parades take place. We also have the coronation of the Carnival Queen, competitions of nado, a main parade, the parade of Chinese lanterns and finally the fireworks show with which the carnivals are closed.

The main parade takes place at 3:15 pm, which sees a large number of people in hundreds of colorful costumes. The streets are decorated with various designs and the carriages cross the streets together with the participants.
