In Belize there are two types of carnivals: The first is the traditional one that is celebrated before the holy week or Lent as in most Latin American countries and various parts of the world. The second is the one celebrated in the month of September, which commemorates Independence Day and is celebrated nationally. The latter is known as The Road March and is what we are going to focus on at this time.

The parade routes begin at Fabers Road, making its way to Central American Boulevard, then to the Belcan Bridge, passing along Freetown Road, Saint Thomas Street, Princess Mararet Drive, ending the route at the Marion Jones Sports Complex. However, this does not mean that the carnival is over yet, after reaching its final stop, the party continues with dancing and more music.
